John Davids has provided documents of the 1990 Cochrane Plan, an innovative attempt to enhance Tiger Stadium’s amenities while preserving the character of the existing ballpark. The Tigers, as we know, elected not to pursue any renovations, choosing instead to build a new ballpark later in the decade, ultimately known as Comerica Park. Nonetheless, these documents provide a fascinating glimpse into what might have been had the Tigers followed the leads of clubs like the Cubs and Red Sox in updating a historic venue.
