Bus Tour

One of the featured events of the weekend is a Saturday bus tour that will visit historic Detroit baseball sites, with a focus on sites that are relevant to the race in baseball issue. The five hour tour through the city of Detroit features visits to various baseball related places of interest. The tour includes a stop at Tiger Stadium and the price includes a boxed lunch. Departure will be from the Atwater Street (back) entrance to the Renaissance Center, facing the Detroit River.

Leading the tour will be University of Michigan Professor Reynolds Farley, who previously conducted an acclaimed tour of Detroit baseball sites in 2005. The planned schedule includes visits to former and current ballpark sites, residences that housed notable Detroit players, as well as sites housing historical collections, such as the Ernie Harwell collection at the Detroit Public Library.

One free ticket to the Sunday symposium is included with each bus tour ticket.
